Post By Lana: The Boxer Rebellion has the Single of the Week on iTunes. They also have the Exclusive Album selling for $5.99. It’s featured on the apple.com startup page- on the bottom- you have to wait a few seconds for it to flash.

Also: Boyce Avenue is playing January 22nd at the Mercury Lounge in NYC, and Les Blanks and The Monolators are playing together in LA on January 27th at The Echo at 9 pm.

Post By Lana: Here’s a band worth checking out. I got a later Depeche Mode/Coldplay mix from them. They’re called Color Radio. What does everyone else think?

Post By Lana: -A lot of Organism artists are playing around in the upcoming month.

Saint John and the Revelations is playing in Santa Monica this Saturday (the 10th).

Starting on the 31st, Rosewood Thieves are playing all over the East Coast- including some Manhattan, CT and Philly dates.

There are some more; dates are on Myspace pages.

-Also, I found a good website for unsigned artists: thenextbigsound.com. Artists sign themselves up and fans “create” labels and “sign” the artists that they like. This could be a good way to find artists for Organism.

-I have some shows that I’m going to this weekend just for fun; I’ll keep everyone posted as to whether I find anything worthwhile.

Post By Chris: fyi, a lot of these links and demos are really rough - so we have to listen and be open to what they could be…
Post By Mike: Charlotte O’Connor, one of our Kensaltown developing artists on the Sacha Skarbek CD, has just been signed worldwide to Sony BMG, by Columbia Records in the UK and J Records in NY.

Let’s prioritize and start securing artists for Organism!

Post By Chris: hi everyone. ok, so i will be sharing a rather large collection of artists that andreas and i have on the channel watch list. it basically comprises of two categories: 1. a general “watch list” that andreas mostly presides over and; 2. a more focused list of artists that i would would bet on - i would call that one “chris wants to sign” list.

we may ultimately want to have 2 basic tabs categories for each persons artists:
what they are watching and what they want to propose to be an organism artist.

stay tuned. thanks.

Post By Lana: RadioIndy.com is a great website that showcases albums by independent artists. It’s really for artists to promote themselves, but if you have an account, you can sign on and check out bands in whatever genre you want.

If you’d like to check out the site out, one of my bands already has an account- User Name: glaciergarden Password: Himmel. You can use this to sign on and check out bands. I tried to make an account for Organism, but it kept saying “User Name Taken.”

Post By Lana: There’s a section in AP Magazine called AP&R. While I tend to shun everything from AP Magazine (because I’m not 14 and think Fallout Boy and Good Charlotte suck), AP&R does feature unsigned bands in a very marketable genre. Here’s the link: http://altpress.com/apr/

They might not have anything good, but it could be worth checking out. We might find something.

Post By Lana: I heard Platform One’s name dropped when I was at Crash Mansion doing some promo during the week of CMJ. They hosted an Emerging Artists Festival at Crash- it’s on Platform One’s website. I don’t know much about them, but their client list seems to be pretty impressive. Their marketing tactics are pretty standard, but most of their promo work could be pretty effective.
Post By Chris: Does anyone know these guys? thanks…www.platform-1.com
Post by Tony: Rachel Goodrich is playing Hotel Café tomorrow (Dec 10th) @ 9:30pm
Post by Lana: I found some interesting sites that can help us search for new, interesting music. I had these sites sent to me through some work contacts.
The first one is MIC- it stands for Music Industry Connect. You can type in any region in the country, and even narrow it down by the type of business (record label, venue) and it gives you everything in that area.

I also found two sites that are really similar: BandandVenue and Venues and Bands. BaV gives you a list of US bands, venues, managers and booking agents. VaB does the same thing, but it’s a UK site, which is good for when the company expands internationally.

All the links are here. Check them out…
